Barnette, the Court ruled in favor of Jehovah’s Witness students who declined to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, noting in the opinion that the Parent and Teachers Association, the Boy and Girl Scouts, the Red Cross, and the Federation of Women’s Clubs had all objected to the Pledge statute as well, and that their concerns were heeded while the Jehovah’s Witnesses were ignored.
